Green breakfast smoothie bowl recipe

Leafy greens are nutritional powerhouses. Spinach, kale, swiss chard, romaine – you name it, they’re all packed with minerals, fiber and hydration to support beautiful glowing skin. One of my fav. ways to sneak more greens in is with smoothies. It’s so simple to throw in a handful of greens without even having to taste them. This green breakfast smoothie bowl recipe is the perfect example.

In this recipe, we’re using spinach, but if you have a high speed blender (like a vitamix) you could also sub in kale. Combined with banana and mango you get the beautiful green colour without any spinach taste. The avocado also lends some creaminess making this delicious green breakfast smoothie bowl mimic the texture of soft serve ice cream.

To take your smoothie bowl up a notch, you need to perfect your toppings. Add something a little crunchy like nuts, seeds or a healthy granola. Then compliment the flavours with some naturally sweet options like goji berries, chopped fresh fruit or dehydrated coconut chips. Superfoods like chia seeds, or hemp seeds also make great toppings to add an extra nutritional kick to your smoothie bowl.


Green breakfast smoothie bowl recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1/2  an avocado
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • A handful of spinach
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (plus more if needed)

Optional toppings:

  • nuts or seeds (chia seeds and hemp seeds are great!)
  • goji berries
  • cacao nibs
  • coconut flakes
  • fresh fruit

Directions:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender, or food processor.
  2. Blend on high until fully combined. The texture should be thick like a soft serve ice cream.
  3. Top as desired, then serve.
